IT Strategy & Architecture

Overview

Oakton has been at the forefront of Enterprise Architecture and IT Strategy Development since the mid 1990s. The focus on Enterprise Architecture is increasing as organisations seek to optimise their existing and planned investment through improved integration of business and IT strategies.

At Oakton, we understand the need to not just ‘align’ business and IT but to ensure that they work together closely and systematically from the beginning. This is both in the defining the business and IT landscape as well as the application and management of information technology to achieve the business aims.

Our IT Strategy & Enterprise Architecture offering consists of a number of services ranging from the development of a business and IT landscape via the establishment of the Enterprise Architecture; through the definition of the IT Strategies to implement; and finally to the establishment of the appropriate IT organisational structures and paradigms to successfully deliver the IT strategies for a range of business and technology scenarios.

Services

Our team is able to provide a range of services, depending on your particular requirements, including:

Business Systems Strategy & Options Analysis

Oakton provide the service to develop Business Systems Strategies. We use a structured methodology to review the existing business systems landscape and the business inefficiencies that it causes to develop a business systems strategy including solution options

Enterprise Architecture

Enterprise architecture provides a foundation of understanding the business needs and directions, in terms of process, drivers and organisational structures. Using this base, EA then looks at the information needs to deliver these outcomes and the systems that underpin the processes and information needs. Finally the EA looks at the technology decisions that need to be in place to enable application and information support.

We have services to undertake the development on our client’s behalf and to establish an effective internal EA capability. Finally we can apply these disciplines to a major program of work to establish the solution architecture for the program. Services include:

  • Enterprise Architecture Development
  • Enterprise Architecture Capability

IT Management Consulting

IT management consulting is the provision of support and guidance to get the most of the IT function within an organisation. This includes aspects such as IT governance definitions, IT organisational design and IT Service Management consulting.

IT Strategy Development

IT Strategy provides the extension of the enterprise architecture work to define the IT actions and approaches that are needed to close the “to be” gap and establish the right operational model for the IT function.

We have services to do this on a broad scale across an IT function and systems landscape or we can focus on determining a core systems strategy for part of the organisation.

Solution architecture

The Enterprise Architecture & Strategy group within Oakton provides a conceptual solution architecture development service.
