Enterprise architecture provides a foundation of understanding the business needs and directions, in terms of process, drivers and organisational structures.

Using this base, EA then looks at the information needs to deliver these outcomes and the systems that underpin the processes and information needs. Finally the EA looks at the technology decisions that need to be in place to enable application and information support.
